Jordan 11 Retro

The striking red highlights across this Jordan 11 Retro mark it out as a classic recreation of the Cherry colourway from the early 2000s. It rests upon a frosted outsole made of durable rubber with wavy grip lines that combine with the herringbone patterns in the opaque pods below the heel and forefoot to give excellent traction to the wearer. These latter two parts both exhibit the bold hue of Varsity Red, which establishes the first of many strong tonal contrasts to be found across the design. Through the centre of the foot and behind the partially see-through piece of the outsole, a carbon fibre shank plate is visible, its surface displaying a compelling grid pattern that combines squares of Varsity Red and dark grey. A bright white Jumpman then leaps across it just below the arch of the foot.

The midsole, meanwhile, is crafted from a winning duo of Phylon foam and full-length Air cushioning, for maximum underfoot comfort. Above this is another contrastive element in the form of a Varsity Red patent leather mudguard that encompasses the entire sneaker. This trademark feature of the AJ11 series shines with a lustrous glow, before the ballistic mesh over the top of the foot returns to elegant white. The leather heel panel matches this tone, as do the bands of material that reach over the mesh quarter to create eyelets for the white laces to be tied up through. The tongue has also been made using white mesh, and there is stylised lettering written across its centre forming the words “Jordan” and “Jumpman”, a Varsity Red Jumpman logo acting as a buffer between them.

Inside, the shoe is blanketed in a vibrant Varsity Red hue from top to bottom. This softly padded fabric stretches all the way from the topline of the high-cut collar, which serves to protect the ankle, to the insole, spreading across the latter’s surface and covering all of it except for the white Jumpman in its centre. This delivers a colourful juxtaposition that repeats again on the heel tab, which itself is formed from soft Varsity Red material spilling out from the inner. The number 23 has been stamped onto this tab in white, asserting the famous jersey number worn by Michael Jordan throughout most of his career. Just beside this on the lateral heel, a Varsity Red Jumpman has been embroidered into the white overlay, forging one final eye-catching variation in colour and finishing off this heritage Air Jordan 11 Cherry in style.
