Jordan 5 Retro x A Ma Maniére
"Dusk"
FD1330-001
This Jordan 5 Retro x A Ma Maniére design is one of two stylish sneakers made simultaneously in collaboration with the luxury fashion brand. Known as Dusk, this particular colourway has a composite rubber outsole with a toe cap and midfoot section in opaque black, the latter part hosting debossed Nike text. The rest of the feature, meanwhile, is translucent and filled with herringbone grip lines for excellent traction. Behind the partially see-through bits under the forefoot, which have a yellow tinge that brings them a captivatingly retro look, each brand’s logo is visible: Jordan’s Jumpman on the left foot and A Ma Maniére’s “A” on the right. The midsole, meanwhile, is almost entirely black, the only exception to this being the distinctive shark teeth formations on its flanks, which are Burgundy Crush. Nike Air is visible through a window in either side of the heel, with the lateral one being decorated in white A Ma Maniére lettering, giving the shoe a unique look.
High-quality black suede then covers the upper, forming both the underlayer of the forefoot and collar, and the overlays on the toe, quarter and heel. The mesh netting normally found on the AJ5 has its own particular look here as the off-white panel set into each quarter is made up of rows of the “A” logo which can only really be made out if looked at closely. Another panel just like this occurs over the top of the foot, where it constitutes the bottom half of the tongue. Meanwhile, its upper half is coated in a silvery white reflective material that shines when light flashes upon it. A black Jumpman appears in the centre of the tongue on the right shoe, with A Ma Maniére’s logo taking the left one. In front of this sits a clear Nike-branded toggle that can be used to lock the foot down tightly into the shoe for a snug fit. Black or cream-coloured laces thread through it, before working their way in and out of the black TPU panels in the front of the collar and the quarter panels to tie the shoe up.
At the top, the collar reaches a different height on each side, going a little higher on the medial flank than the lateral one. It has been slimmed down somewhat compared to other AJ5 designs, but is still padded enough to protect the ankles. On the shoe’s interior, the black inner walls are lightly adorned with a monogrammed effect of the “A” logo, while the back of the tongue is coated with a soft Burgundy Crush fabric. A white patch has been sewn into each of these, the left one featuring A Ma Maniére text, the right Michael Jordan’s signature. Meanwhile, the insole is black with Nike Air branding printed onto it in white. The heel counter also contains this instantly recognisable logo, here in black embroidery. In similar fashion, Jordan’s jersey number of 23 has been woven into the lateral heel using black thread to round out this refined sneaker with a subtle design touch.
