Jordan 5 x DJ Khaled ‘We The Best’

Gentle pastel tones and carefully crafted details have been brought together across this Jordan 5 x DJ Khaled ‘We The Best’ to create a highly desirable sneaker. It has been built upon a strong rubber outsole with cream-coloured herringbone grip sections below the heel and forefoot either side of a white area under the arch of the foot. The former parts are translucent, the forefoot revealing a Leche Blue Jumpman on the left foot and “We The Best” text on the right. Meanwhile, the white part is opaque and has the word “Nike” pressed into it in between two oblong pads that bring additional traction underfoot. More translucent rubber caps the toe, this time in a rosy shade known as Crimson Bliss. Above this is a dual-layered midsole of Sail stacked below black with jagged shark teeth formations of Leche Blue with specks of black cutting through the Sail layer on each side. A clear window in the heel shows off the Air cushioning held within, its bouncy padding delivering high levels of comfort to the wearer.

Crimson Bliss leather panelling fills out the upper, with an underlayer apparent on the forefoot and around the collar, and overlays in the toe, quarter and heel. Additional curved panels reach down either side of the collar in place of the usual raised pods, once more in the pleasant pastel tone of Crimson Bliss, and similarly coloured areas of mesh lattice have been set into each flank. Moulded TPU eyelets have been placed either side of the tongue, three on its left and three more on its right, and TPU mesh can be seen behind the Crimson Bliss laces, bringing extra breathability to the shoe. A partially see-through lace lock holds them firmly over the top of the tongue, whose exterior is coated in a silver reflective material that glows when light shines upon it. A black Jumpman rises from its surface, and its underside is blanketed in a quilted Leche Blue fabric. This cosy material continues across the entire inner lining, while the insole is made of a smoother Leche Blue textile.

Black Nike Air branding appears on the right sockliner, while the left has been printed with the words “We The Best”. This is the second of three sets of this text to be found on the sneaker, denoting it as part of DJ Khaled’s collection of the same name. Khaled himself was inspired by Jordan’s strength and determination, and a black patch has been sewn into the back of the tongue to reflect this – the one on the right foot says “Keep” and that on the left says “Going”. Alongside this message of perseverance, Khaled added Leche Blue embroidery onto the left heel, spelling out the title of his collection, We The Best, one final time. Lastly, the right heel hosts a set of classic Nike Air branding text to complete this masterful collaboration.
