Nike Air Max Plus x FC Barcelona x Patta

Nike and innovative Dutch streetwear label Patta both have a deep connection to football, with Patta designing eye-catching jerseys and Nike supporting some of the sport’s greatest ever players. In 2023, having worked together many times already, the two brands collaborated with a third partner, FC Barcelona. Their aim was to celebrate the long-standing ties between the Netherlands and the Spanish football club while also uniting its global community of fans. For Patta’s Dutch-Surinamese founders, Guillaume Schmidt and Edson Sabajo, the collaboration was even more profound since many of the Dutch players to leave their home country to play for the legendary Spanish team have shared similar roots. In honour of this inspiring history, Nike took the iconic Air Max Plus and decorated it with Barcelona’s rich blue and garnet tones to represent the Blaugrana blood pulsing through the veins of its supporters.

The iconic colours of FC Barcelona have been blended into a captivating gradient that flows from Deep Royal Blue to Noble Red across the upper of this visually stunning Air Max Plus. The shoe’s black elements serve to accentuate these sporting tones, while vibrant orange highlights bring added flair to the outsole and rear Air units. Alongside classic features like the Tn logo and whale-fin shank, which carries a similar colour gradient to the upper, there are several honorary emblems that mark the collaboration. Dual swooshes land on each flank, and a golden Patta Air logo in the shape of the Tn hexagon resides on the tongue. Barcelona’s club crest then finds a place on the unique lace dubrae, and the decorative lace tips represent the stripes of the Catalonian flag. Finally, Catalan lettering that reads Culers Del Món has been printed onto the insole as a way of celebrating Barcelona’s global network of fans (Culers) and thanking them for their passionate support.
