Nike Dunk Low

Vintage two-tone colour-blocking gives this Nike Dunk Low a remarkably elegant appearance. Sail forms the basis of the design, its white tones covering the leather upper through the toe box, midfoot and heel. While the first of these three features is filled with breathable perforation holes, the second is smooth and the third ridged with three parallel lines of stitching.

Resting atop this durable underlayer are several overlays in a light blue tone called Coast – a word which also acts as the shoe’s nickname. The colour blankets both the forefoot and rear overlays, as well as the eyestay that links the two pieces together. Asymmetrical eyelets move up through this wavy-edged strip of leather, Coast-coloured laces threading through them to keep the foot in place.

Intricate stitching lines the edge of these features, sometimes in dual lines, sometimes in single ones, but always finely crafted. Another band of stitches can be seen running around the top edge of the white midsole, which is underpinned by a Coast outsole. A bed of foam in the midsole cushions the foot, while the outsole steadies the wearer via its grip patterns, which range from ringed formations emanating out across the forefoot to bulky lugs under the heel.

Back on the upper, the Sail tongue has a piece of Coast fabric on its peak alongside a rectangular patch in the same tone. Embroidered into its surface is a set of University Gold Nike branding. Similar text has been stamped onto the insole, this time with University Gold forming the background as it spreads across the sockliner and Coast on the branding. The softly padded inner is blanketed with Coast mesh, and this appealing blue can be seen once more on the sidewall swooshes and the heel panel. Sewn into this last feature is University Gold Nike lettering, which finishes off the sneaker with an eye-catching flash of colour.
